Company History

A Prospective New Day, Inc. was founded approximately 29 years ago with a simple yet profound question: "How can we assist young men and women entangled in the justice system, who have a genuine desire to live as upright citizens but are hindered by their criminal background?" With this mission in mind, Braswell Administrative Boarding House commenced operations in October 2008.
Initially established to provide administrative support to small business owners, Braswell Administrative Boarding House soon recognized the pressing need to support inmates transitioning from institutionalized systems into civil society. Since January 2008, the organization has been unofficially assisting these individuals, leveraging its administrative expertise to aid them both prior to release and for a minimum of six months post-release. At that time, the Reentry movement was in its infancy, with no formal guidelines in place. Consequently, the assistance provided was based on assessing the basic needs of individuals reentering society.
Through word of mouth, Braswell Administrative Boarding House began supporting numerous inmates who had little to no support system. Recognizing the need for temporary housing for newly released inmates, the organization opened its doors in October 2008 to provide shelter for those being released to Nash, Edgecombe, and Wilson counties.

Braswell Administrative Boarding House offered a range of services to help formerly incarcerated men and women reintegrate into society. These services included providing basic necessities such as shelter, food, and transportation, as well as assisting clients in obtaining vital records for proper identification. The organization also identified educational needs and facilitated access to free GED classes and community college programs. Additionally, clients received help with applying for government assistance, financial aid, and Medicaid through the Benefit Bank of North Carolina. Medical providers accepting Medicaid and those with sliding fee programs were also recommended.

Employment support was another key service, with clients receiving assistance in creating employment profiles through NC Works and developing resumes to reflect their work history. Housing assistance was provided, including information on low-income

apartments with minimal entry costs for unemployed individuals. Mental and behavioral health resources were also made available to support lifestyle changes and address any addictions.

In October 2018, Braswell Administrative Boarding House relocated to Greensboro, North Carolina. Despite the challenges of adjusting to a new city, the mission to assist remained steadfast. In January 2019, the organization was reestablished as A Prospective New Day, Inc., continuing to offer the same vital services. In August 2021, A Prospective New Day, Inc. secured a three-year contract with the NC Department of Public Safety to provide these services. By December 2021, the organization opened its second home in Greensboro, NC, successfully helping numerous men and women achieve their goals.

On November 1, 2023, A Prospective New Day, Inc. was awarded another contract to add two additional homes, bringing the total to three homes in Guilford County. This

achievement has elevated the organization’s level of service, enabling it to serve clients more effectively and comprehensively. Under the nonprofit A Prospective New Day

Reentry & Rehabilitation, Inc., we established our first boarding home, which accommodates up to four justice-served individuals who have successfully completed

the transitional program but still require housing.
